Kansas City Chiefs vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Kansas City and Las Vegas enter Week 4 at 3–0, with each team having scored exactly 88 points. Kansas City defeated Denver 31–10, Indianapolis 33–30 and Miami 24–10. Las Vegas defeated Miami 27–13, the Chargers 26–14 and New Orleans 35–27.

Kansas City’s data: During the 2025 regular season, the Chiefs scored 362 points—21.3 per game—and allowed 328, producing a +34 differential. Through three games in 2026, Kansas City has already scored 88 points while allowing only 50: 29.3 scored, 16.7 allowed and a +12.7 differential per game.

Las Vegas’s data: The Raiders’ turnaround is the remarkable part of this matchup. They scored only 241 points in 2025—14.2 per game—while allowing 432, resulting in a –191 differential. Through three games this season, Las Vegas has scored 88 and allowed 54: 29.3 scored, 18.0 allowed and a +11.3 differential per game.

The prediction and its consequence: A+POINTS favors Kansas City approximately 25.0–19.0, a projected advantage of 6.1 points. Both MEANFootball allocation methods select Kansas City. The underlying market baseline was KC –4.5 with a 47.5 total, while the model’s combined projection is closer to 44 points. That suggests a Kansas City victory built partly on defensive control—not necessarily an offensive shootout.

The matchup beneath the records: Both offenses average 29.3 points, but Kansas City has generated 416.3 yards per game, compared with Las Vegas at 311.7. The Raiders have offset that difference with disruption: 10 sacks and a league-leading +5 turnover differential. Kansas City owns the more sustainable offensive profile; Las Vegas owns the more dangerous short-field profile.

NFL game comparison

The injury watch: Patrick Mahomes was listed with a knee issue but practiced fully Wednesday. Kansas City tackle Josh Simmons did not practice because of his back, while cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was limited. For Las Vegas, Jackson Powers-Johnson missed Wednesday’s practice with a groin injury; Ashton Jeanty practiced fully.

Official Chiefs–Raiders injury report

The tidbit: After three games, the clubs are separated by almost nothing on the scoreboard:

  • Kansas City: 88 scored, 50 allowed, +38

  • Las Vegas: 88 scored, 54 allowed, +34

Only four points of differential separate them. Yet in 2025, Kansas City outscored Las Vegas by 225 points of season differential: KC finished +34 while Las Vegas finished –191.

Final assessment:
Kansas City remains the proper selection, but this is substantially more dangerous than the 2025 records would suggest. The Raiders’ improvement appears genuine, especially defensively, but their early success has also benefited from turnovers—an advantage that is difficult to sustain against Mahomes. If Kansas City protects the football and handles the Raiders’ pass rush, the Chiefs should control the game. If Las Vegas creates two or more takeaways, the upset becomes very realistic.

A+ POINTS™: Evidence-First NFL Predictions

Evidence-First NFL Predictions

This is the heart of every MEANFootball™ forecast.

Each NFL matchup is ranked by projected separation, not simply by which team is expected to win. Games with the largest projected differences rise to the top, helping you quickly identify where our statistical model sees the greatest advantage.

Confidence Levels

🟢 Strong — Projected separation above the 16.3% threshold. These are the games where the model has its highest confidence.

🟡 Moderate — Meaningful projected advantage, but below the Strong threshold. Worth watching as additional information becomes available.

🔴 Close (50–50) — Very small projected separation. These games are essentially statistical toss-ups where one play, turnover, injury, or coaching decision can determine the outcome.

Built on Evidence

Every percentage shown here is generated from historical scoring performance using a transparent, repeatable statistical process. Rankings are updated throughout the week as injury reports, roster changes, and other verified information become available.

Our objective isn't to predict every game perfectly.

Our objective is to identify where the greatest statistical separation exists and present those results in a simple, understandable format.

Evidence first. Opinion second.
